For many Americans, a significant goal of estate planning is to avoid probate. This class will meet in person on the Autry campus. Ergonomics is the science of designing and arranging things so that people can use them easily and safely. Poorly-arranged work areas where people have to bend or overextend limbs and body parts can result in musculoskeletal disorders (MSDs), which affect 1.8 million U.S. workers every year. Proper ergonomic workplaces can help workers avoid carpal tunnel, eye strain, and poor posture. Employees that take this course will learn how to identify ergonomic risk factors, potential injuries, and methods to minimize or eliminate ergonomic hazards. This in-person course is designed to help small business owners and retail stores but would also be beneficial for people who work from home to avoid chronic discomforts and strains in the long run. Identifying and improving ergonomic conditions helps employers with compliance with OSHA’s General Duty Clause.

This course will cover the basics of OSHA and the general provisions that all companies must comply with as well as a few safety topics that should be covered as a best practice for providing a safe and hazard-free workplace.
