The BLS Instructor course consists of three parts: computer-based training, Basic Life Support course and AHA curriculum and guidelines. Each instructor candidate is required to present a portion of the curriculum while they are monitored by the training center faculty.

AUTRY TECH AND THE AMERICAN HEART ASSOCIATION

As an American Heart Training Center, Autry Technology Center has the privilege of providing premier cardio pulmonary resuscitation and first aid training to Northwest Oklahoma. With over 200 instructors, we are proud to be able to provide this service to our communities. We offer a variety of courses to best suit the needs of any individual looking for AHA training.  This includes open enrollment classes, customized training for groups or companies, and a chance to become an AHA Instructor yourself!

OUR AHA CLASSES

Heartsaver CPR AED

Heartsaver CPR AED is a classroom, video-based, instructor-led course that teaches adult CPR and AED use, as well as how to relieve choking on an adult. Optional modules include child CPR and AED use, infant CPR and child and infant choking. Heartsaver CPR AED teaches skills with AHA’s research-proven Practice-While-Watching (PWW) technique, which allows instructors to observe the students, provide feedback and guide the students’ learning of skills. Upon successful completion of the course, including a skills test, students receive a Heartsaver CPR AED course completion card, valid for 2 years.

Heartsaver First Aid

According to the Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA), approximately 4 million injuries and illnesses occur annually in the workplace. Heartsaver First Aid is a classroom, video-based, instructor-led course that teaches students critical skills to respond to and manage an emergency in the first few minutes until emergency medical services (EMS) arrives. In this course, students learn skills such as how to treat bleeding, sprains, broken bones, shock and other first aid emergencies. Heartsaver First Aid teaches skills with the AHA’s research-proven Practice-While-Watching (PWW) technique, which allows instructors to observe the students, provide feedback and guide the students’ learning of skills. Upon successful completion, including a skills test, students receive a Heartsaver First Aid course completion card, valid for 2 years.

Basic Life Support

The Basic Life Support (BLS) for Healthcare Providers (HCP) Course is a video-based, instructor-led course that teaches both single-rescuer and team basic life support. This course trains participants to promptly recognize several life-threatening emergencies, give high-quality chest compressions, deliver appropriate ventilations and provide early use of an AED. BLS for Healthcare Providers teaches skills using the American Heart Association’s proven Practice-While-Watching technique, which allows instructors to observe students, provide feedback and guide students’ acquisition of skills. With their student manual for the course, students receive the new Pocket Reference Card, designed to provide quick emergency information to the rescuer at any time.

UNCERTIFIED NURSE AIDE (CMS Waiver Training)

In response to the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) waiver for Nurse Aide training, Autry Tech has prepared an online course that meets the required 16 hours of training. Simply enroll the student in the program and provide a legitimate email address. The student will then be emailed login information for the course utilizing the Blackboard platform. The cost is $25 per trainee. All of the necessary forms for documentation are included: Attestation of Required 16 Hours of Training and Skills Check Form. This course will train the employee to be an uncertified Nurse Aide!

LONG TERM CARE NURSE AIDE

Have you heard about our new “flex” format for our long term care nurse aide course? A new course begins every Monday with a required orientation at 8am and will be selfpaced with set clinical hours. Completion of 72 classroom hours and 16 clinical hours are required by state law. Our classrooms and instructors are available Monday through Thursday 8am-noon and 1pm-8pm. Clinical hours will be on Fridays from 7am- 3pm. You must complete the course within 12 weeks and have classroom activity every two weeks.

FIRE TRAINING

EXPAND AND ENHANCE TRAINING OPPORTUNITIES TO INCLUDE TECHNICAL RESCUE, CONFINED SPACE, HIGH-RISE STRUCTURES AND MORE.

  • Rescue emergencies can occur in many different types of situations, and at many different locations. A fire training tower is located on the southwest side of Autry Tech’s campus. 
  • Some examples of locations where these emergencies can occur include industrial and commercial facilities used for agribusiness, manufacturing, food processing, bulk storage, chemical handling and oilfield operations.

This tower allows Autry Tech’s fire training to focus on confined-space rescue, high-angle rescue, aerial and ground-ladder rescue, search and rescue, mayday and rapid intervention, search dog training, EMT scenario training and SWAT team exercises.
