Dental Assisting

PROGRAM OVERVIEW

This Program prepares individuals to enter the health care industry as competent, entry-level health care providers. Instruction includes keeping proper patient records and an overview of legal and ethical issues affecting the dental profession. Students study head and neck anatomy, tooth identification and morphology, dental terminology, infection control and instrumentation. Numerous chair-side procedures practiced in the classroom and lab include digital and manual x-rays, impressions, study models, dental charting, suctioning, and passing instruments. Job shadowing and work-based learning assignments also enable the students to expand their knowledge and skills through assisting the dentist and dental team.
